When a patient walks in my door I have four goals:  I want them to feel like they have been listened to,  I want to answer all of their questions,  I want them to feel comfortable, and  I want them to leave feeling better, whether that is physically or emotionally.  I find that the highest level of health is achieved when the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person are all in sync. This can be a difficult process to get through and I become part of their support system. Education is a big part of my practice whether it is information about nutrition, Western medicine, or fitness. It is important that a patient has the information they need to make the right choices for them self.

I graduated from Western Washington University with a B.S. degree in Fitness and Exercise Physiology in 2001. While in school I realized that I wanted to be able to do more to help people than being a fitness instructor would allow. I considered medical and nursing school but decided that I did not want to spend my time writing prescriptions or passing out medications. I wanted to be able to spend more one on onetime with people to really find out who they are and what they need.  I was drawn to Eastern medicine after I found out that the body basically runs on electricity. I found this fascinating, why not treat the body based on the basic principle of energy? As soon as I started learning more about how acupuncture uses these principles to heal the body, I knew that this is what I wanted to do. I had found a way to spend more time with my patients and to treat the body in a way that made sense to me. I graduated from Bastyr University with a master’s in acupuncture in 2005. I spent a month in Chengdu China working and learning in a teaching hospital. I was able to see how acupuncture and Chinese herbs are fully integrated into their health care system. This truly is a powerful form of medicine.
